Carolina Thunder is pleased to announce a public competition to design a new logo for the performance ensemble. The current Carolina Thunder logo was from 1997 and was used throughout CT’s tenure as a Winter Guard International finalist through 2002.
The Carolina Thunder logo design contest is open to all individuals. The rules of the competition are included below. We look forward to receiving a wide variety of logo designs from all over the world!
What is Carolina Thunder?
Carolina Thunder is a professional performing marching percussion ensemble that is available for community and corporate performances in the Greater Charlotte, NC area.
History
Carolina Thunder Percussion Ensemble was formed in 1997 by the Carolina Thunder Youth Association and operated as an Explorer Post with the Boy Scouts of America. The competitive ensemble participated in Winter Guard International from 1998 through 2001 placing in the World’s top five each year. The ensemble was well known as one of the most innovative in the activity, setting new trends in musical arrangements and program design.
Carolina Thunder was resurrected in 2008 and resumed performing; most notably at select Carolina Panthers home games at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte.
CAROLINA THUNDER LOGO CONTEST RULES
Purpose
The exclusive main logo symbol for the Carolina Thunder; and will be used for the web site, printed material, signage, equipment, etc.
Guidance
- Must be identifiable directly to Carolina Thunder
- Must be original work of the submitter
- Should be submitted in color (say 2 or 3 colors) AND black and white
- Must be made available in various formats (jpeg, tiff)

Participation
The competition is open to all designers, both professional and non-professional. Participation can only take place in a private personal capacity.

- High resolution, print-ready, scalable vector format such as JPEG, PDF, and TIFF (if possible)
- Design concept / description
- Submitter's full name, email address and phone number
Copyright assignment
Carolina Thunder will acquire ownership of the winning logo by assignment of copyright, and the winning designer will disclaim any trademarks and without limitation all other rights related to the design (paperwork will be required). By submitting a logo for entry in the competition, the designer acknowledges that he/she is the person that made the logo and is its rightful owner. The designer also certifies that the logo does not infringe upon the rights of any third party and that it does not violate any copyright.
- Designs will not be returned to the designers
- No responsibility can be accepted for entries that are lost, delayed or damaged
- Any submissions which do not satisfy the above "submission format" will be ignored without any warning
